Frequently asked questions
My recording stays empty — nothing gets recorded.
Sampling needs microphone permission. iPadOS asks the first time you record. If it was declined, you can turn it back on under Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → R4X Groovebox. The recording stays entirely on your iPad.
I get squealing or booming while recording.
Use headphones to monitor while recording. If the sound plays through the iPad speakers, the microphone picks it up again and you get feedback.
Where are my projects and samples stored?
Locally on your iPad — in the Files app under On My iPad → R4X Groovebox. There is no forced cloud and no account. To back up or share, simply copy the files out from there.
Ableton Link doesn’t find any other devices.
Link works on the local network only: all devices must be on the same Wi-Fi. No internet is required. Guest and hotel Wi-Fi often block device-to-device traffic — a personal hotspot or your home network fixes that.
